Name:wendywoowho
Birthdate:Mar 10
Location:Dist. of Columbia, United States of America
I was born and raised in Oregon, and moved to the East Coast in 1990 to go to college...American University to be exact. And, I sort of .... stayed. I work in information architecture, I am married, we have a dog.

"As for what you shall do, that is easy enough. Tell your story. Tell people what I have done for you. Always tell your story and the truth. Let everything else take care of itself."
--"For We Are Many," Real Live Preacher, http://www.reallivepreacher.com/node/861

For one human being to love another:
that is perhaps the most difficult of our tasks;
the ultimate, the last test and proof,
the work for which all other work is but preparation.
-- Rainer Maria Rilke

How could we forget those ancient myths that stand at the beginning of all races, the myths about dragons that at the last moment are transformed into princesses? Perhaps all the dragons in our lives are princesses who are only waiting to see us act, just once, with beauty and courage. Perhaps everything that frightens us is, in its deepest essence, something helpless that wants our love.

So you mustn't be frightened ... if a sadness rises in front of you, larger than any you have ever seen; if an anxiety, like light and cloud-shadows, moves over your hands and over everything you do. You must realize that something is happening to you, that life has not forgotten you, that it holds you in its hand and will not let you fall.
--Rilke, Letters To A Young Poet

Harvey and I sit in the bars... have a drink or two... play the juke box. And soon the faces of all the other people they turn toward mine and they smile. And they're saying, "We don't know your name, mister, but you're a very nice fella." Harvey and I warm ourselves in all these golden moments. We've entered as strangers - soon we have friends. And they come over... and they sit with us... and they drink with us... and they talk to us. They tell about the big terrible things they've done and the big wonderful things they'll do. Their hopes, and their regrets, and their loves, and their hates. All very large, because nobody ever brings anything small into a bar. And then I introduce them to Harvey... and he's bigger and grander than anything they offer me. And when they leave, they leave impressed. The same people seldom come back; but that's envy, my dear. There's a little bit of envy in the best of us.
-- Jimmy Stewart's Elwood P. Dowd, "Harvey"
